DO THE HOOK UP LAUNCH NIGHT 5.11.2010

Stoke Newington’s newest music venue 'The Stokey Records Bar' launches The Hook Up on Friday 5th of November 2010. The Hook Up is the only place in N16 where you can dance the night away to upbeat old school hip hop, furious funk and rocking reggae with some of London best DJs.  Over the years London has seen many great old school hip hop and funk nights and The Hook Up wants to sprinkle some of that magic in N16.
'The Stokey Records Bar' is under Luigi's trattoria on Stoke Newington Church Street. Luigi is a known and respected restaurateur, owner of the successful Il Bacio; and he certainly knows what works in N16. When Luigi approached local promoters MC Wildeye and Uncle S they snapped up the opportunity as they instantly saw the potential in 'The Stokey Records Bar' and believe this is what the area has been screaming out for, an intimate venue with a great sound system.
The Hook Up launches on Friday the 5th of November, to kick off the proceeding DJs Captain Crunch & Disco Steve from the famous Scratch Club who will blending old school, golden age hip hop and funk with their turntable wizardry. Rumours are spreading that The UK Beatbox Champion may bless us with a little something.

Captain Crunch has been a part of the UK hiphop scene for the past 6 years. Fine-tuning and perfecting his skills along the way as Resident Turntablist and co-founder of Scratch Club London. Having performed at many large hiphop/dubstep events across the UK, supporting well known hiphop acts such as Yungun, Scratch Perverts and Mr. Thing. Also DJing for Foreign Beggars, Stig of the Dump, Jehst and Micall Parknsun, he is certainly no stranger to the UK scene.

More recently, Captain Crunch has teamed up with Reeps One (UK BeatBox Champion) and together they have performed up and down the UK at various events such as Secret Wars, Bigger than Barry and Vagabondz.
In 2009 Crunch came 2nd in the UK Final of the IDA Battle (international DJ Academy) with his infamous Dubstep routine. Since then Crunch has had a lot of attention via the internet for creating Dubstep mashups, using hiphop acapellas, and incorporating scratches and beat juggling into Dubstep sets.
Now Captain Crunch is on the well known Drum and Bass/Dubstep agency Maximum Boost. Future dubstep releases include a collaboration with the well known WagaMan (Roots Manuva) and Medison (Dented Records), as well as being sponsored by Dephect Clothing.
With future shows to include Arcadia (Bristol) and performing with BassLine Circus at Glastonbury Festival 2010, this forthcoming year should make for an explosive entry for Captain Crunch into the Dubstep scene. Watch this sp
